Over the next five years, over 6,000 eligible Singaporean households will be able to benefit from new Foreign Domestic Worker Grants (FDWG) of SGD$120 (£62) towards the payment of a foreign care worker.

Applications are now open for the grant, which is available for the first time in October, announces the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports.
Eligible households will have a monthly per capita income of SGD$2,200 or less, with a member who has at least “moderate disabilities” as confirmed by a panel of GPs, the ministry says.

The worker must have attended a relevant caregivers training course approved by Singaporean government agency, the Centre for Enabled Living.
