The number of online job postings in the oil & gas industry in June has seen an increase of 11.98% since January this year, according to specialist recruiter Hays Oil & Gas’s Global Job Index.

The research comes from a survey of nine major global industry-specific job boards, Hays notes.

Job postings in June 2011 were also 56% up on the level seen when the report was first compiled in October 2010, but the index is also slightly down on its May 2012 peak.

Europe remains the region with the largest increase in jobs over the two-and-a-half year history of the report. The index was set as 1.0 on its inauguration, and now stands at 1.94.

Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have seen the biggest jump of 59%, since the beginning of 2012.

The full report is available on the company’s website.
