The local organising committee of the 2014 Football World Cup earlier this week opened recruitment for 100,000 volunteers to work during the tournament and the warm-up event, the 2013 Confederations Cup, reports AFP.

The initial two-week recruitment stage will select 15,000 volunteers to work within the stadiums hosting the main tournament, and 7,000 for the 2013 event.

However, the main recruitment process for the bulk of volunteers is due to open next month.

AFP notes that volunteers must be 18 or over on the date of the event and may be Brazilian or foreign nationals.
