The government says it is no longer able to subsidise operations at Remploy, the provider of sustainable employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

In total, 36 of the company’s 54 factories are at risk of closure, although there are a number of bidders for nine of those 36.An £8m support package is in place for employees facing redundancy including support from Jobcentre Plus, £4m of personal budgets for individuals to purchase individual back-to-work support and liaison with the Employers Forum on Disability (EFD).
