A decline in permanent and temporary appointments in June was the greatest since July 2009, finds the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) and professional services firm KPMG’s Report on Jobs.

Temporary and contract staff billings were down for the seventh month running, while permanent placements fell for just the first time in six months, but vacancies grew in both divisions by a marginal level.IT & computing and engineering & construction were the most in-demand permanent employees during June.

For temp placements, nursing, medical & care staff saw the strongest demand growth, followed by engineering & construction.
