Future media, technology and marketing recruiter abrs has added 12 new employees to its 21 staff in a single day, following an ‘audition’ process to find new recruitment talent in collaboration with Raw Talent Academy.

Speaking to Recruiter following the day at Royal Windsor Racecourse last Thursday [5 July], managing director Andrew Bailey (left) said: “We’re actually in a state of shock – the day went extremely well. In fact, we hired 12 [trainee consultants rather than the eight or nine they initially wanted].”Bailey explained abrs has been experiencing rapid growth, increasing turnover in three years from £3m to £12m, but at the same time there was “a frustration in finding really good staff”.

“I’m a big advocate of training and developing people professionally into our industry,” he said, explaining that this was what attracted abrs to former Apprentice winner Lee McQueen’s Raw Talent Academy.

“As well as their ability to attract such high numbers of good quality applicants, it’s the 12 days’ training piece they add on to the audition day that was the attraction.”

And the reason abrs took on 12 instead of eight was due to the high numbers of talented individuals. “We struggled to whittle it down to eight,” Bailey told Recruiter.

With the firm’s optimism for continued growth, once the dozen new recruits are fully trained Bailey would definitely do it again. “Without a doubt,” he emphasised.
