Video recruitment service Launchpad Recruits has come to market this month, after three months of working in trial phase.

Founder Will Hamilton has 13 years of management and process consulting experience, most recently employed by IBM.He tells Recruiter he came upon the idea for the company last year, while studying part time for an MBA in Columbia University, New York, and doing part-time consulting with Goldman Sachs.

The video recruitment solution sees employers set up to 10 questions – although Hamilton says the company recommends a maximum of three – which candidates will then answer on video.

He says that no installation is needed to use the web-based, cloud-hosted service, which can run from any Mac or PC, with a mobile version in the pipeline.

He adds that key areas he would expect it to be implemented would be high volume recruitment and graduate recruitment, “because the reality is by the time you’ve de-selected on 2:1s, it’s very difficult to de-select because everyone’s been the captain of hockey or something like that”.

Hamilton concludes: “The research that we’ve done shows that candidates know they’re another piece of paper in the pile… this gives them a chance to leap out.”
