Health benefits and services group UnitedHealth Group is to create nearly 1,500 new jobs in Texas.

This includes nearly 800 roles at a solution centre in Irving for Connextions, part of the group’s Optum health services business, which will open next month.There will also be 330 jobs in the Houston area at Optum’s pharmacy benefit management business, and 250 and 115 jobs in San Antonio and Harlingen respectively, in the company’s health benefits business.

The Irving roles will be for licensed and non-licensed insurance agents, earning an average salary of $30k-$40k (£19k-£26k), with free College of Insurance training provided for eligible recruits.

As reported by recruiter.co.uk last week, Connextions is also expanding its Colorado operations and creating 550 new jobs there.
