INTERNATIONAL France: Minimum wage up 2%
Wed, 28 Jun 2012
France’s minimum hourly wage is to rise by 2%, to €9.40 (£7.51), with inflation expected to come in at 1.4% this year.
Left-leaning union CGT notes that the real boost is equivalent to an extra baguette a week.
The socialist government also announced an increase in wealth and inheritance taxes and abolished a tax ceiling for higher earners.
As reported by
recruiter.co.uk earlier this month, the country has also seen its
retirement age changed from 62 to 60 for some workers.
