Apprenticeships on course to exceed last year’s total

Fri, 29 Jun 2012
The number of apprenticeships started between August 2011 and this April was 383,200 – at this rate of starts per month, the total for the 2011/12 academic year would exceed 500,000.

This would see it beating last year’s total of 457,200, with skills minister John Hayes saying: “As we look to rebalance our economy, it is particularly encouraging to see an increase in the number of apprentices in the engineering and manufacturing sector.”
