500 new jobs when Marks and Spencer launches bank
Fri, 8 Jun 2012
Retailer Marks and Spencer will create 500 new UK jobs as it launches more than 50 branches of its new M&S Bank over the next two years.
Of these roles, 400 would be customer facing with another 100 coming at its corporate HQ in Chester.
The new banks, to be run and owned by HSBC, will be within existing stores, with Marble Arch in London due to see the first opening.
Banks will also open at weekends, in line with store opening times.
The first current accounts with the bank will be available by autumn of this year. The company already offers some consumer financial services.
