Aviva Ireland creates 220 jobs in Galway, more elsewhere

Insurer Aviva Ireland has announced it will create 220 new jobs in Galway, and its workforce is also incurring fewer jobs losses than previously expected.
A maximum of 540 voluntary redundancies will take place over a two-year period, the firm says.
The new roles in Galway will come through the opening of a new insurance claims and sales centre for the UK and Ireland, with recruitment due to begin this summer.
There will also be new actuarial and underwriting pricing centres in Dublin, again to service both the UK and Ireland.
Seán Egan, chief executive of Aviva Ireland, says: “Our alignment with the UK has enabled us to secure additional services that will lead to the creation of new jobs in Galway and maintain a strong presence in Dublin and Cork.
“This is a huge endorsement of our continued commitment to Ireland. We are determined to emerge stronger than ever before, providing marketing leading products and services our customers and brokers demand.”
