Anglia Ruskin MedTech Campus launches, aiming at 12,500 new jobs

Anglia Ruskin University’s MedTech Campus, a health innovation space that could create 12,500 jobs to the medical technology sector, launched earlier this week at the House of Commons.
The 12,500 figure was arrived at by a feasibility study by consultancy firm DTZ, and a spokesperson for Anglia Ruskin University tells Recruiter that this figure refers to jobs across the campus’ three sites in Chelmsford, Harlow and Southend-on-Sea, all in Essex.
The spokesperson adds that this figures refers to totally new jobs, with the number of workers that could move to the sites discounted from that number.
It could also add £1.2bn to the sector, which has a global worth of £170bn.
The project is a partnership between the university and the three local councils involved, with work due to start on the sites in spring 2013.
