INTERNATIONAL Netherlands: Students data shows need for proactive grad recruitment

Wed, 18 Apr 2012
Seven in 10 students start looking for employment before they receive their degree, with the same number using their own network of contacts to find work, according to a survey of nearly 300 graduates of the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM).

Professor Steef van de Velde, dean of the RSM, says: “There is a clear message in this report for recruiters not to wait until the year’s end when it comes to finding top talent. Not only are students pro-active in finding job opportunities for themselves, they also start making use of their contacts early.”
It also shows that of graduates of the RSM, who come from over 80 different countries, 76% choose to remain in the Netherlands and that 54% find a permanent job within a year.
