Jobs board CareerBuilder has acquired language specialist jobsite Top Language Jobs (TLJ).
TLJ operates over 40 sites in 25 countries across Europe and in the US, including its primary
www.toplanguagejobs.com site.
Speaking to
Recruiter, Tony Roy, EMEA president of CareerBuilder, says it is “still early days as to what the long-term plan will be” for the acquired website, but in the immediate future it will continue to operate as it does at present.
He also tells
Recruiter that he had initially become aware of the company having been a customer when he used it to hire Dutch speakers in London.
Roy adds that being able to offer multi-lingual candidates to employers makes CareerBuilder a more “efficient” service, commenting: “I think we’re very similar to a lot of businesses around the globe; we’ll continue to expand due to the needs of our customers.”
He also says that the place of linguistic skills in the labour market is due to grow. He cites the fact that according to a 2007 Nielsen Report, over $83bn (£51.5bn) is spent every year on language skills acquisition, but adds “we’re still quite a long way off” their value being fully understood.
This news comes the week after CareerBuilder, which itself operates in 22 markets and through various partnerships has a presence in over 60 in total,
purchased Brazilian IT jobs board CEVIU, as reported by
recruiter.co.uk.
