ASA judgement for U4jobs
Wed, 25 April 2012
Jobs listing site u4jobs.co.uk has been ordered not to run an advert for its services again following an adjudication from the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The ad, which ran in February of this year, featured various brand logos alongside the text ‘Partners & Employers’, with a complainant challenging “whether the use of the company logos was misleading, because he understood those organisations were neither partners nor employers”, according to the ASA.
U4jobs did not respond to the ASA’s enquiries and the complaint was upheld, with the ASA reporting that it was “concerned by U4jobs’ lack of response and apparent disregard for the [Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP)] Code”.
The ASA also “reminded U4jobs of their responsibility to respond promptly to our enquiries and told them to do so in the future”, and concluded that the ad was misleading, because the company “did not send evidence to show that the logos belonged to genuine business partners and they had permission to use the logos”.
