Social housing provider Home Group and its contractors have committed to creating over 200 new apprenticeships.
Of these apprenticeships, 72 will be based out of Home Group itself, with construction contractors supplying to the business including Mears, Morrison, Roalco and Willmott Dixon committing to create another 140 six-month placements between them.
In total 80 apprenticeships will be created in the North-East of England, 52 in the North-West, 33 in the South-East, 24 in the South-West, 19 in Central/East and seven in Scotland.
Rosemary Du Rose, Home Group executive director of customer services, says: “In the current economic climate, it is more vital than ever before that employers committed to their communities give young people the chance to get a taste of the workplace and an opportunity for career progression.
“I am delighted that our partners, who are due to start on our new repairs and maintenance contracts in April, are as committed as we are to creating apprenticeships.”
