Reed Recruitment in Qatar has launched a series of roadshows to promote Doha to the global workforce, reports AMEinfo.com.
The ‘Trip Recruitment’ programme has seen Reed visit the UK, New Zealand, Ireland and South Africa, with further dates scheduled.The project is designed to attract staff needed for various high-budget contracts issued by Ashgal, the Public Works Authority of Qatar, including a QR460m (£80.2m) deal for Hyder, a QR404m deal for Atkins and another worth QR330m for WSP, while a new rail system to be built from scratch is also due, according to the website.
Reed’s country manager for Qatar, Bernard Ward, says: “These projects represent a huge challenge for us and we have had to create a solid plan to find the right project managers, project developers and senior staff to fill the roles.
“There are difficulties with bringing people here because of some people’s perception of the Middle East – they see on the TV the scenes in Syria and Egypt and incorrectly make the assumption that Qatar is not a pleasant place for them to relocate to.”
Ashgal president Nasser Ali al-Mawlawi says QR100bn (£17.4bn) will be spent on infrastructure over the next five to seven years.
