Saga Insurance has outlined plans to take on nearly 500 new staff at its premises in Hastings.
The company’s offices in the South Coast city opened in January 2010, with the capacity to accommodate 800 people and 306 currently working there.
A spokesperson for the firm confirms to Recruiter that the plan is for the extra 494 spaces to be filled with new recruits by the end of the year, evenly distributed at an average of 20-40 a month.
The spokesperson also says that the jobs will be predominantly based in the contact centre for claims handlers and sales staff, but a variety of auxiliary roles in areas such as catering and security will also need to be filled.
The company will recruit primarily through vacancies on its website, but also has links with the local job centre and works in partnership with the local council.
A fortnight ago, rival insurance retailer Hastings Direct, based not in Hastings but in nearby Bexhill-on-Sea, announced that it would create 200 new jobs this year across all areas of its business.
