Management accountants most difficult to find

Four in 10 finance sector employers say management accountant roles are the most difficult to fill, according to a report from financial recruitment specialist Advantage Professional.

The report also shows that 27% said that financial and business analysis were among the most in-demand skill sets, while 34% plan to offer additional bonuses as a retention tool.

David Geller, associate director at Advantage Professional, says: “The gradual move towards growth means that we’re seeing a rise in demand for skill sets in forecasting, budgeting, planning and analysis while business critical roles in all areas continue to be filled.”

  • So why can I not find a job

  • What's so peculiar about being a management accountant is that being called on doesn't necessarily ensure you the job. It's a specialised field and recruiters would look for tailor-specific experiences to match the role. I am a management accountant too with 10 years experience and have moved jobs every two years or so. I always end up doing specific roles which applies to my core analytical strengths. Good luck on your search though.

  • I would echo the sentiments expressed by kittykute ... though have not moved every 2 years.

This is perfect shown by my existing role .... in that my current employer is keeping me on (which I am not complaining about), as a project accountant, rather than a mainstream management accountant, admittedly as a result of the lash up caused by PCT's implementing Government reforms, before they have been finalised, and NHS employers having to give preference to individuals that were "at risk" 6 months ago, but would not be so now.
