GatenbySanderson doubles turnover

Turnover at public sector executive search firm GatenbySanderson rose to £21.9m in 2008, more than double the 2007 figure of £10.2m, the company has announced. Operating profits increased to £3.9m from £2.8m in 2007.

Commenting on the results, Graham Goodwin, managing partner of GatenbySanderson, says: “We are delighted with our performance in 2008. We recognise we are operating in a very tight market place and that clients are looking for added value and efficiencies. We have responded to this by continuing to focus on quality, recruiting the best people within our market place, while developing technical solutions to improve project management, attract candidates and find savings for clients.

“We anticipated tougher conditions ahead of the sharp economic downturn and managed costs appropriately. However, we also made the decision to further invest in those areas where we were confident we could see a good return and this has had a positive effect upon our overall performance.

“Our strategy has always been to drive growth while ensuring that this is not at the expense of existing business. In 2008, we achieved a repeat business rate of 72%, which is a reflection of the quality of our work and focus upon delivery. We are never complacent and feel that, with the continued commitment of our excellent team and the long term, trusted relationships with our clients, we will continue to grow at pace in the future.”
