I am of the opinion that the Recruiter awards should reflect the excellent work that takes place in the industry - not only for the industry but to enable our customer base to select who they wish to use and work with. It saddens me to read that drunken behaviour put a blight on this otherwise positive Recruiter event.

A great night, well-organised and fun to catch up with loads of old friends. Shame about the lack of respect shown by a noisy few who couldn't hold their booze and who obviously spoilt it for many. Perhaps Recruiter should ask for a few ideas as to how to prevent this in future? Might even make a competition out of it!

I think there is an opportunity at the Awards evening to raise some money for charity. An auction for, say, for great prizes provided by the industry and a raffle for one more would be good for the charity, good for our industry and provide an opportunity for all of us to briefly reflect on something other than the success of our company and industry.

I hope that you all realise that publicly slating each other does not make the recruitment industry look good as whole. Maybe a subtle email to recruiter would have been better with this option of responding to the article as a means of congratulations to all the winners on the night. Thank you Recruiter, myself and my company had a great time - well organised.

The event was, as always, well organised by Recruiter and we were delighted to win the award for Best IT Recruitment Firm. I was however very pleased that it was only the 2nd award of the evening and that my team therefore was able to hear what was said about our company success before the noise in the room completely drowned out the speaker! What I personally found most disturbing, was when Gary Clark's wife, stepping onto the stage to present an award in memory of Gary, was shown no respect by certain guests, and probably never even heard the tribute paid to him. It reminded me of the time in the late 90's when Stephen Hill had to stand up at an REC event and shout at the guests to be quiet. The behaviour at a number of the tables tainted the achievements of the majority of the guests and also the reputation of our industry. Even Marcus Brigstocke's comment 'you must be very proud of yourselves' failed to shame the individuals in question and that further added to my embarrasment (maybe they could not hear him!).

I agree with the other "Guest", lets us not allow some miserable, sad little fool (if you were my client, Magic Circle Firm, I'd tell you to take a hike; no-one needs business from a jumped up little vegetable like yourself) to cast any shadow over what was a brilliant evening. The food was fantastic, the vibe was great and the opportunities the event promoted; superb. All in all, an enormous CONGRATULATIONS to those who won (our firm being one of the lucky few) and a very big WELL DONE to the organisers! A marvellous evening. My colleagues and I enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!

Although the night was generally enjoyable, I was angered at the people who would not stop talking through the awards. Marcus Brigstocke did his best to carry on regardless but for us sitting at the back (and all trying to listen) we found it hard to hear what he was saying. That aside, we were one of the night's winners and would like to thank Recruiter for "Making it Happen." See you next time!

Let's not allow a few louts without any manners or sensitivity to cast a shadow on what was actually a brilliant night. I made some great contacts, and look forward to attending in 2008! However -- could some staff be appointed to kick some of the noisier elements out? Or could those who can't control themselves be banned from attending future Recruiter Awards events?
