Night of stars as industry celebrates its success

It was another night to remember as London's Grosvenor House Hotel hosted the Recruiter Awards for Excellence 2007, supported by Thomas International.

About 1,200 recruiters were there to see 19 awards across different categories given out. Recruiter editor DeeDee Doke, in her opening remarks, said: "What an array of stars I see out there tonight."

The winners were photographed on stage receiving their awards from by the various sponsors and the compere for the evening, comedian Marcus Brigstocke.

Marks Sattin was first up on stage to collect the award for best accountancy/financial recruitment firm. This was followed by dpconnect, which scooped the best IT recruitment firm award. The judges felt the standard of entries in this category was so high that they highly commended two other entrants: Penta Consulting and Volt Europe.

Monster UK won the award for the best online service. Its staff took to the stage to the sound of 'Monster' by the Automatic.

Horizon Recruitment and sevenHR each won two awards. Martin Krajewski, chief executive of the Blomfield Group, won the Gary Clark award for outstanding contribution to the recruitment profession.

Peter Farrow, managing director of Thomas UK, part of Thomas International, said: "Innovation, passion, creativity, commitment. That is why we are here tonight, to celebrate and recognise the achievements of UK recruiters."

Dave Smith, UK managing director of Careerbuilder.co.uk: "This is the first Recruiter Awards I've attended. We're certainly going to be entering for the Best Online Service next year, so that will be exciting."
