Employers keep the UK working at Monster's jobseekers' career fair

Brian: exceeds all expectations
Resourcing professionals from a wide range of companies met jobseekers face-to-face at job board Monster.co.uk’s career fair in London last week.
The diverse range of employers with vacancies to fill included the Army, Boots, Coca Cola, Calvin Klein Underwear, Camden Council, Logica, London Fire Brigade, PokerStars.com, the Royal Navy, SELEX Systems Integration and Siemens.
Most recruiters found the event extremely useful. Suraj Pandit, recruitment manager for Camden Council, told Recruiter “the event had gone very well”. As well as meeting with jobseekers from the housing profession, Pandit said the Council’s participation at the event was also beneficial in “breaking down barriers about public sector organisations” to attendees.
In addition to direct recruiting, Camden Council also uses recruitment agencies in specialist areas such as interim management.
Agencies also worked alongside other employers present at the fair. PokerStars.com used various sources, including agencies and Monster.co.uk, for volume roles. And although Calvin Klein was cutting back on its preferred supplier list, it still used two agencies for certain roles.
James Brian, director of product for Monster in the UK & Ireland, told Recruiter at the end of the event that the day “had exceeded all expectations”.
“There was positive feedback from candidates, with such a broad mix of clients at the career fair. It’s been very inspirational for jobseekers,” he explained.
Just over 2,000 people attended Monster’s ‘Keep the UK working’ event, where there were also seminars, motivational speakers and career experts on hand to provide advice in CV writing and interview techniques.
