It’s 2010 and aren’t we all glad? The second annual Recruiter/Catalyst Corporate Finance Fast 50 gets the year off and running with the positive start it deserves, and the story this time is of organic growth and great service providers who have refused to let negative economics stifle their ambitions.
Even with the infestation of snow, ice, stalled transport and general weather chaos the UK has experienced recently, recruitment refuses to die out completely. A prime example: take the case of the Lincolnshire Police who received in two hours the number of job applications that they had anticipated receiving over five days as they build their talent pipeline for entry-level police constables. While recruiters at the force say they’re focusing for now on filling vacancies caused by turnover, with growth still in question, the good news is, vacancies will be filled.
But clouds do linger. News of increased numbers of recruiters going into administration in the second half of 2009 is distressing. Continuing problems are expected well into 2010. Some companies that have gone into administration have re-emerged to do business, and we wish them well. However, we do not want to see ‘phoenixed’ businesses appearing on the same kind of list again in 2010.
