Justice has been done, and two recruiters have been acquitted of fraud charges stemming from the nefarious activities of a conman. Our online readers at www.recruiter.co.uk followed, in heavy numbers, the recent trial of Stephen Lawrence and Mark Starling, and the subsequent sentencing of Timothy Baker, whose shifting of invoice financing funds for his own use led to Lawrence and Starling’s legal difficulties. In this issue, we report on the beginning of new professional lives for the pair. We wish them all the best, and we hope that their story offers a cautionary lesson to other recruiters who might be approached by a potential buyer, investor or other ‘angel’ who seems a little too good to be true.

We also have le plaisir this issue of introducing you to Christine Raynaud, the passionate chief executive at Hudson, who has hands-on responsibility these days for the company’s UK and Ireland operations — as well as for the rest of Europe. Her zest for the business is palpable, and her energy holds a special appeal at this particular time.

Finally, we leave you with this question: Do you Twitter?
