E-recruitment boosts network's growth in Europe
Professional online network XING is attributing a large part of its growth in the first half of the year to e-recruitment, alongside advertising on the network.

E-recruiting income for the period rose by more than a third to £2.99m (£2.44m) and by as much as half on a quarter-by-quarter comparison.
XING job-expert Stefan Schmidt-Grell, director, product marketing, told Recruiter that most of the recruiting activity is in the IT, media, consulting, marketing, sales and finance sectors and adds that the availability of different pricing models has also encouraged more SMEs to use the network.
“We have noticed that a lot of members employed by small businesses with no HR staff use XING to recruit,” he says. “Not only do these small businesses have access to low-cost ads, they can also get in touch with potential candidates directly or browse topic- and industry-related groups.”
XING’s core markets include Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain and Turkey and it has 9.6m members. Although the network is not used by UK recruiters to the same degree as LinkedIn, which has 75m members, global agencies and firms with offices in the UK are using it as part of their recruitment strategies.
“Many of these companies are well aware that XING is the market leader on the German-speaking market and also use the platform to recruit people for those areas,” says Schmidt-Grell.
