Don’t quote me on that
Recruiter brings you the Quote of the Week from Yahoo!’s newly appointed chief executive, Carol Bartz (rumoured to have been headhunted by Heidrick & Struggles).
It is reported that she once said: “If you don’t kill a lot of plants along the way, you don’t know how to garden.”
What a comforting thought for all her new employees to dwell upon.
However, to inspire positivity, Hertfordshire based Saints Personnel puts some rather more upbeat quotes on its website. For example: ‘Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life’ — Confucius. Oh, how true…
And something for everyone in recruitment to really take on board: ‘It is a fine thing to have ability, but the ability to discover ability in others is the true test’ — Elbert Hubbard, writer, publisher, artist and philosopher.
I wonder if Mr Hubbard was the 19th century precursor to recruiters?
