• a three-year plan to boost broadband use
• universal access to broadband by 2012
Mark Begley, head of digital at media and creative recruiter Major Players, says: “The Carter Digital Britain report serves to illustrate how important digital communication will be to Britain’s economy in the coming years and how the government understands how imperative it is for us to keep up with this growth.
“The market for digital media specialists has seen exponential growth in the last decade. Initially companies were unsure of how to best use this new media but now digital has become central to all forms of communications.
“Moving from simple online brochures to more complex and innovate developments such as social and professional applications or e-commerce. The online/interactive industry is continually growing and evolving, as are the skills required to have an effective web presence (such as SEO, PPC, Ajax, Flash and specialist skills creative design.
“For this to take place we will need to cultivate digital skills and this is why Major Players works with new digital graduates and current digital specialists to ensure this need is catered to.”
