Last week, the Prince’s Trust annouced a range of new training schemes for school leavers.?

Hannah Horler, managing director at Cartwheel Recruitment, told Recruiter: “It is going to be at the more junior level - waiter and waitress level, ensuring they learn the core hospitality skills and financial skills in terms of budget management which would help them develop into deputy management in the future. Deputy management across the industry is incredibly difficult to recruit for. There are not enough people coming through.”

Nick Clover, managing director at Appetite4recruitment, adds: “It is going back to basics. Companies that get this right will stand out in the market so customers know what to expect.

“It is working with the team to control costs, minimise wastage, get the budget under control without having to hold back on spend on the product. Giving them that headstart is a positive thing.”

See Recruiter next week (2 September) to see how Steve Wiggins, HR director at the Prince’s Trust, enlisted the help of HR recruiter Digby Morgan to staff his department.
