Chef demand boosts hospitality

Chefs and senior manager vacancies are driving an increase in hospitality job availability, according to recruiters.

Figures released to Recruiter from hospitality jobs board leisurejobs.com show that in May there was a 14.3% rise in job numbers month-on-month across the pub, bar, catering and hospitality sectors.

James Brotherhood, director at Leisurejobs.com, told Recruiter: “Some of the clients who seem to be bucking the trend are the more traditional pub grub operators who offer value for money and often an outdoor area.
 
Gary King, director at Collins King Associates, says: “The chef market is starting to move. Chefs for the branded market and corporate catering are being recruited.

“There is also an increase in branded restaurant management. People are now looking to move and there has been an increase in workloads.”

Paula Rogers, managing director at Admiral, adds: “We have seen it in the senior, top end roles. There is change in the marketplace. Contractors are changing. Branded restaurants are recruiting. Companies are trying to recruit where they can. They are trying to get the best person.”
