Changing eating habits fails to hit hospitality recruitment
Britain’s changing eating habits have not adversely affected hospitality recruiters. A recent survey from caterersearch.com showed that the UK’s eating-out market value fell by 13% with people swapping the pub for takeaways at home.
Alan Hogg, director at hospitality recruiter Kerry Robert Associates, told Recruiter that changing habits had not been to the detriment of hospitality recruiters because chefs now have an easily transferable skillset. “There has always been a big divide between hotels and pub catering, although in recent years gastro pubs have closed that gap. It is a transferable skill-set. It is vital to keep that transferable skillset open.”
Tom Brumby, director at catering and hospitality recruiter Apple Appointments, adds: “We supply chefs to restaurants to takeaway outlets, so it does not affect us much. If people want a takeaway, they still need a chef to cook it.”
