Caped Crusader Coverman comes to comedian’s aid in car park
Eutopia’s chief executive Craig Coverman had to leave last month’s Recruiter Awards early, due to a business trip the next day, and found himself trying to get into the car park of London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, which was being locked for the night, along with the event’s host, comedian Michael McIntyre.
The night-time attendant grudgingly let them in, but demanded £20 from Michael for washing his car. “But I didn’t want my car washed,” protested our host. “Yeah, but I’ve washed it, so you owe me £20,” was the attendant’s baffling reply.
After several minutes of the same banter, Craig butted in to try and explain to the ‘keeper of the cars’ that it was highly unfair to charge someone for washing their car when they hadn’t actually asked for it to be washed. “Thank God you’re here,” whispered Mr McIntyre, genuinely relieved that Craig ‘Caped Crusader’ Coverman was with him, pleading his case.
However, in frustration, Michael eventually leapt in his car and sped off back to North London, leaving Our Hero to ask the attendant: “Do you have to be famous to have your car washed, as you’ve not bothered with mine?” Ah, the price of fame.
