Buyers and cost engineers top engineering’s most in-demand list
Buyers and cost engineers are the most in-demand professionals in the engineering sector, according to research from IT, technical and engineering recruitment consultancy IntaPeople.
The full list of top ten engineering roles are:
1. buyers and cost engineers
2. supply chain consultants
3. planning engineers / project managers
4. mechanical, electrical & electronic design engineers
5. design draughtsman
6. stress / structural engineers
7. quality engineers
8. manufacturing engineers
9. software engineers
10. engineering managers / operations directors
Chris Day, head of IntaPeople’s engineering division, says: “Despite some difficult conditions, organisations across the country have continued to recruit highly talented engineers as they look to deliver innovative, market-leading solutions. We’ve seen a number of markets pick up considerably over the past five to six months, including consultancy, medical, special purpose machinery, MOD (marine and oil & gas), and food.
“The strong demand for buyers & cost engineers is understandable as companies look to stay within budget, while the growing demand for logistical experts coincides with the launch of a number of exciting new projects around the country.”
