    Motor company General Motors has confirmed that it is to shed 10,000 workers across its European car unit Opel, which includes Vauxhall in the UK.

  • Kwik Fit Insurance recruits for HQ

    Motor insurance firm Kwik Fit Insurance has begun a major recruitment drive to take the headcount at its Uddingston headquarters to more than 1,000 by the turn of the year.  Kwik Fit Insurance plans to recruit a further 84 posts between now and January 2010 and is inviting local jobseekers to attend its recruitment open day on 31 October. Recruits will fill a variety of roles at its call centre including outbound sales, internet sales and policy renewals.

    Just four months after BMW laid off 850 temps (Recruiter,4 March) the car manufacturer is rehiring staff at its Cowley plant.An announcement from the company said it was taking on 250 staff to fill extra shifts for “at least” the next three months, following an increase in orders.Multi-sector agencies Right4Staff and Manpower previously held contracts with for the plant, but it was unclear at time of press whether they would be supplying the new staff.
