Apprenticeships on offer in Morrisons recruitment drive
Supermarket Morrisons has announced that it is to take on 330 new apprentices into its meat and bakery departments this year.
Morrisons says it currently has around 1,000 retail vacancies across the country including over 30 vacancies for butchers and 40 for bakers.
The chain opened three new stores in January creating around 800 jobs across all departments, from bakery assistants to checkout operators and management positions.
Norman Pickavance, Morrisons group HR director says: “At Morrisons, every employee is given the opportunity of developing their career so they can go from the shop floor to the top floor.
“Of the top executives in the company 30% started their career on the shop floor. We are recruiting people of all ages and backgrounds and we make a significant investment in training them all to a high standard, whether that is in traditional skills like butchery and bakery or more general retail food skills and management.”
