Travel recruitment

Published: 07 October 2008

The collapse of travel firms like XL has boosted jobs at tour operators and on the high street in the short term, a recruiter has claimed.

Despite new findings from ABTA’s holiday survey conducted by Ipsos MORI, which show that 68% of 25-44-year-olds used the internet to book their last holiday, Steven Newbold, director at travel staffing firm Dome, told Recruiter that holidaymakers are currently taking comfort from someone else taking responsibility for booking their holiday which has boosted the high street in the short term.

Newbold said: “The online has to grow because of how e-commerce how is. The likes of XL going down will secure the high street for that little bit longer. In the short term, it will keep the high street going.”
