Attrition rates tend to drop after 18 months in a job. What has kept you at your agency for longer than that period?Karen Jones Recruitment consultant, Supertemps
"We were one of the first agencies in North Wales, and the reputation was so good I wanted to stay with the best agency. The company is quite small, I have been given responsibility much quicker and they have given me every opportunity to do training — for example, with the REC. Unfortunately, we don't work on commission, but my pay is very good and has increased as I've been getting better at the job. They are also based seven minutes down the road from where I live!"Elisa Carvajal Recruitment consultant, Fircroft
"I started with Fircroft in November 2005 as a technical recruitment consultant working on the contract side. The Aberdeen office has a strong team and positive working environment. All the staff get on great but know when to get heads down and concentrate on filling those vacancies. This makes a huge difference to your day, as tackling the competitive world of recruitment can be challenging enough as it is. I have recently moved positions within Fircroft, now concentrating solely on permanent vacancies within the oil and gas industry. Fircroft has given me a fantastic opportunity to utilise my past skills and experience, along with making the next step in my recruitment career."Gordon Brown Senior recruiter, 9-20 recruitment
"As a specialist IT recruiter, 9-20 has offered me a valued and long-term career opportunity. As well as the fantastic training which was available through the company's recruitment academy, it's great working for a smaller company where you're made to feel like you're making a real contribution to the overall success of the organisation. Having a keen interest in technology myself it's been a real positive to be working in a genuinely innovative environment. As well as being involved during the testing phase of the company's latest recruitment software — 'proactive recruiter', the recruiters are continually given more 'tools' to use when selling the company to potential clients. The uncapped bonus scheme is also a plus."
