A Cardiff gangmaster business has been convicted for operating as a gangmaster without a licence at Abertillery Magistrates Court, Gwent. Recruitment Solutions Wales, operating from 2 Alexandra Gate, Ffordd Pengam, Rover Way, Cardiff, was sentenced to pay a fine and costs of £1,615. The gangmaster business, which had previously held a Gangmasters Licensing Authority (GLA) licence, failed to have its licence renewed in October 2008. Kilbane loses battle

James Kilbane, co-founder of Irish recruitment group Grafton, has passed away following a battle with illness. Kilbane founded the Grafton Employment Group in 1982. He was joined one year later by Ken Belshaw and together they then opened their first office in Dublin. The company has since expanded into an international recruitment network spanning 70 offices in 16 countries. Kilbane retired last April. Almost half (49%) of UK candidates have a negative perception of an organisation following an unsuccessful job application, according to talent assessment solutions provider SHL. The research found that 24% of respondents had had two or three bad experiences in the past and 6% as many as four or five, while 18% of those who had been through a bad recruitment experience had stopped doing business with the company as a direct result.
