CBI calls for permanent efficiency

Businesses want a permanent body to ensure continuous efficiency in public spending, including procurement.

In a speech to industry leaders this month, Sir Digby Jones, director-general of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), called for the creation of a body to challenge methods of delivery.

He also argued for a longer-term approach to replace what he described as a “50,000-volt shock every decade or so to inject life into the value for money agenda”.
