Creative jobs increase by 20%

The number of jobs in the creative and media sector has risen by 20% since September last year, according to research from creative and media recruiter Major Players.

The research finds also found that in the six months to March 2010, there were 25% more jobs available compared to the previous six months, while there were 20% less applications in the same period.

Jack Gratton, Major Players’ chief executive, says: “This is great news and illustrates how the whole industry is beginning to pick itself up and get on with business. However, we will be monitoring the whole market closely to see if confidence levels continue to rise throughout the year.”

  • From my perspective as a freelance Flash and Flex developer - I'm on the border of creative and technical, I trained as a designer, but spend 95% of my days deep in code. I work in creative development environments and all the places I work are steadily getting busier - I could have been working at four different good companies this month. I see lots of recruitment around me and people are finding it hard to get the right people.
